On November 22-23, 2023, in Strasbourg, France, the 75th meeting of the Committee of Experts on the Classification of Medicines as regards their supply (CD-P-PH/PHO), which operates under the European Directorate for the Quality of Medicines & HealthCare (EDQM), took place. Ukraine was represented at the meeting by Natalia Volovyk, the Deputy Director for Quality of the Ukrainian Scientific Pharmacopoeial Center for Quality of Medicines, who participated online.
The main agenda items included discussions on the draft Guidelines for the Classification of Medicines, review of the amendments to Resolution CM/Res(2018)1, consideration of recommendations from the Pharmacovigilance Risk Assessment Committee (PRAC) and the Committee for Medicinal Products for Human Use (CHMP), and discussion of the results of a survey on the national classification of pharmaceutical substances.
The meeting also addressed the extension of the current Chair and Vice-Chair's mandates until the end of 2025, as well as discussions on the committee's work program for 2024. Special attention was given to optimizing the safe use of diclofenac and developing innovative IT solutions in this area.
