The kick-off meeting of the 14th International Meeting of World Pharmacopeias (IMWP), dedicated to reviewing mechanisms for internal collaboration and communication, took place on June 7, 2023.
Representatives from the pharmacopeias of Argentina, Brazil, the United Kingdom, India, Japan, South Korea, Ukraine, and the United States, as well as representatives from the International Pharmacopoeia and the European Pharmacopoeia, participated in the meeting. Ukraine's pharmacopeia was represented by Natalia VOLOVYK, the Deputy Director of Quality at Ukrainian Scientific Pharmacopoeial Center for Quality of Medicines.
The engagement of multiple pharmacopoeias in the IMWP aims to foster a more inclusive approach.
During the kick-off meeting, participants exchanged thoughts on the functioning of the working group and discussed next steps. There was a discussion about the importance of involving all pharmacopeias and promoting their active participation in the IMWP. This inclusive approach allows for the exchange of diverse perspectives, expertise, and experiences, facilitating the development of collaborative solutions that can address the needs of a broader range of stakeholders. By embracing inclusivity, the International Meeting of World Pharmacopeias can enhance the quality and relevance of its work and promote harmonization and standardization in the global pharmaceutical landscape.
