On July 24th, the Ukrainian delegation, led by Deputy Minister of Health Maryna Slobodnichenko, visited the United States Pharmacopeia (USP) headquarters in Rockville, MD. During the visit, both parties engaged in discussions about strengthening collaboration.
Since 2010, the Ukrainian Scientific Pharmacopoeial Center for Quality of Medicines has been a proud member of the USP Convention. In the same year, an agreement was signed, allowing the use of USP-NF texts in the State Pharmacopoeia of Ukraine (SPhU), which was extended in 2021. At the beginning of 2024, the agreement was expanded to include the Herbal Medicines Compendium.
In 2013, the State Service of Ukraine on Medicines and Drugs Control joined the United States Pharmacopeial Convention, and in 2022, the National University of Pharmacy also became a member of the Convention.
The Ukrainian Scientific Pharmacopoeial Center for Quality of Medicines actively participates in numerous USP initiatives, including Regional Chapter Meetings, International Meetings of World Pharmacopoeias, Convention Meetings, and various scientific events. We are honoured that, during this visit, the USP recognized the enduring partnership between our organizations and acknowledged the significant strengthening of our collaboration over the past two years.
The Ukrainian Scientific Pharmacopoeial Center for Quality of Medicines remains committed to advancing pharmaceutical excellence in Ukraine by setting rigorous quality standards for medicines. We take pride in developing the State Pharmacopoeia of Ukraine (SPhU), establishing SPhU reference standards, and organizing proficiency testing schemes for pharmaceutical quality control laboratories, thus supporting the Ministry of Health of Ukraine and the State Service of Ukraine for Medicines and Drugs Control in our shared mission to enhance global health.
