As we bid farewell to another year and welcome the promises of the New Year, we want to express our gratitude to each and every one of you. This year has been a journey filled with challenges and achievements, and it's been an honour to navigate it alongside you.
Reflecting on 2023, we want to acknowledge the strenuous efforts of our dedicated and talented team in fulfilling the mission of the Ukrainian Scientific Pharmacopoeial Center for Quality of Medicines in meeting society's needs for effective, safe, and high-quality medicinal products, contributing to the establishment of modern European standards of quality for medicines in Ukraine, integrating Ukraine into the global pharmaceutical market, and increasing the trust of the international community in the Ukrainian healthcare system and domestic pharmaceutical preparations, as well as enhancing the professional image of our enterprise as a leader in the field of standardization and quality control of medicines.
This year, we released another supplement to the State Pharmacopoeia of Ukraine (SPhU 2.6) and prepared two volumes of the next edition. We supported manufacturers and quality control laboratories of medicinal products with pharmacopoeial reference standards (RS). In 2023, the SPhU RSs were supplied to seven countries worldwide, including Serbia, Kyrgyzstan, Moldova, Finland, the Netherlands, Spain, and Slovenia. We conducted quality control of medicines and pharmaceutical substances. We organized another (18th) round of proficiency testing. We significantly strengthened international cooperation with key global leaders in the pharmaceutical industry. Our specialists actively participated in working/expert groups and initiatives of the International Pharmacopoeia, European Pharmacopoeia, United States Pharmacopeia, European Association for Metrology in Analytical Chemistry (EURACHEM), as well as in the Expert Committees of the WHO and the Council of Europe on projects to ensure the quality and efficacy of medicinal products. We extended the Memorandum of Understanding with the UK's Medicines and Healthcare products Regulatory Agency (MHRA) regarding the possibility of using texts from the British Pharmacopoeia (BP) in the SPhU, and also obtained permission to use texts from the German Pharmacopoeia (DAB) and the Homeopathic Pharmacopoeia (GHP) in the SPhU. Our experts participated in scientific conferences and promoted the SPhU approaches on international platforms. In addition, the Ukrainian Scientific Pharmacopoeial Center for Quality of Medicines successfully underwent a supervisory quality system audit and received confirmation of compliance with the quality management system requirements of ISO 9001:2015, IDT.
